HEARSCREEN® IN THE COMMUNITY
Community
The Ears & Eyes for Education (3E) community-based programme in the Western Cape (South Africa) utilises the hearScreen® application to implement pre-school hearing screening at Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres. Lay health workers are trained to conduct the hearing screening service using hearScreen®. To date, the 3E teams have screened more than 18 500 preschool children for hearing loss using the hearScreen® app.

The fact that the application controls the protocol and interpretation of the results make it possible for our 3E programme to employ lay health workers from the communities where we work.
